Lady Of The Lake Sylvan Green - Roger Dubuis DBEX1198

Mother-of-pearl is arguably one of the most ubiquitous materials for watch dials; yet today, high-end watchmaking brands are beginning to introduce creative twists to this "most ordinary" of materials. A prime example is the new *Lady of the Lake* timepiece from Roger Dubuis, unveiled at the 2026 *Watches & Wonders* Geneva exhibition. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic undulations of lake waters, the dial features an intricate mother-of-pearl marquetry technique. Artisans apply varying shades of green lacquer to the underside of each individual mother-of-pearl fragment before meticulously inlaying them—one by one—into wave-shaped grooves carved into a brass baseplate. The entire surface is then hand-polished and exquisitely outlined in rose gold. The resulting dial resembles a tranquil lake—serene and verdant.

Turning our attention to the circular sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position—which actually serves as the small seconds display—Roger Dubuis has crafted it from rotating green mother-of-pearl, surmounted by a moonstone that acts as the seconds indicator. This ingenious design features a gemstone used to adorn another gemstone. The timepiece is crafted in rose gold and houses the self-winding mechanical Caliber RD830, offering a power reserve of 48 hours https://www.firstwatchclone.co.
